Volunteer Opportunities

If you’re looking for LGBTQ volunteer opportunities—step right up, my friend!
🌱 Small Involvement (Super Simple & Easy):
Attend events! This is HUGE. Attendance is what keeps the community alive.
A quick 5-star validation: After an event, Meetup will prompt you to rate and review. A 5-star review (if you had a good time) builds trust for newcomers and helps people feel less nervous about coming.
Stay informed. IMPORTANT: Sign up for our newsletter! We don’t rely heavily on social media. Email is how you’ll hear about events, updates, stories, and ways to help. Long-term, we also want to be less dependent on Meetup, so staying connected by email helps the community stay organized, no matter what platform we’re using.
Give us a short testimonial. 3–6 sentences about what BConnected means to you and why you come. You can use your name or initials—your choice.
Help tidy up at big events. Before you head out at something like Queers & Quiche, a few helping hands makes a big difference—trash, plates, quick sweep, and resetting the space. Thank you.
🌷 Medium Involvement (A Little More):
Volunteer to co-host an event. Reach out to Three to discuss which event you’d like to help co-host. This is a great way to support the existing host, help greet new people, and get a feel for what hosting solo involves.
Join a committee. In 2026, we’ll need people for our volunteer and fundraising committees. A few hours a month will make a huge difference for your community in these roles!
The volunteer committee will help organize helpers for larger events (like Queers & Quiche or a fundraiser). They’ll also find ways for BConnected to volunteer with local organizations that need our help (food banks, shelters, etc.).
The fundraising committee will help plan and execute big parties/fundraising events throughout the year.
Click here if you’re interested in joining a committee!
Fill out a Q&A-style interview for the blog. Shared stories are vital to a healthy, thriving community! Complete this form with your responses, and Three will turn it into a blog article for you. You can use your name and picture or keep it to just initials—it’s your choice.
Write an article for the blog.
Write a piece for the blog about your Bi/Queer experience! Community members LOVE hearing about how other people are navigating their Bi/Queer identities. 600-1200 words will suffice. Submission guidelines are here.
🌲 Large Involvement (Big Impact):
Host an event! If you want to host an event, get in touch with Three to discuss your idea. She or Timmy will make you an event host on Meetup and walk you through all the next steps. Host something you’re excited about in your area of town as a one-time thing or an ongoing event. One of the perks of hosting is that you get to invite people into your world—your favorite park, hike, activity, or something you’re passionate about.
Donate your expertise. We’re a new nonprofit, and one solid hour of expert help or advice can move mountains. If you have experience in any of these areas, we’d love to talk:
Social media and content planning
Fundraising strategy and sponsor outreach
Website UX/UI feedback
Grant research and grant writing support
Even a single one-hour call (video or lunch) helps.
Reach out to Three if you’d like to talk.
Host a Skillshare. Skillshares are community-taught classes with a structured activity—fun, practical, and a fundraiser for BConnected.
How a Skillshare works:
You decide on something you want to “show and tell.” It can be light and easy or rocket science—you choose. Next, you choose a date, gather supplies you’ll need, and come up with ticket prices that will cover your costs and/or knowledge you’d like to share. We can help you with this, too. You and BConnected split the proceeds.
Examples: Teach people how to make pizza from scratch, a DIY terrarium, show people how to write a better resume, fix a flat tire, etc. Anything you feel confident in teaching/sharing. You can do a one-off or make it an ongoing thing. We’ll help you brainstorm the idea, get the word out, and dialogue with you before and after to make sure you feel supported.
Read more about Skillshares here.
Apply to be on the board! Help make critical decisions that impact BConnected’s direction and growth. We’re looking for a Secretary. See the description and how to apply here.
Not able to volunteer right now? You can still help
Become a sustaining member.
Monthly giving keeps the basics covered (insurance, website, tools, event costs) and helps us grow into workshops, skillshares, and community programs. A one-time donation is great, too.
Have an idea we didn’t list?
If you have a volunteer idea you’d like to discuss, reach out!
